Almost one hour to drive 12 miles.

Why not walk or bike then?

That Twingo though...

Yea this sounds like you need a bike.

In a suit? On 90 degree weather?

Suit, tie, loafers.
90 Degree weather.
Comfort.

Hon Hon Hon
Every Twingo in this country is beat to shit.

That’s no fun. I think I would seriously look into swapping four wheels for two.

I’m pretty sure he means a motorcycle.

Pauvre Twingo.

Welcome to Seattle?
Oh yeah, here you can go 14 or even 15 miles in an hour.
![]() 02/19/2018 at 15:29 |

Same for me. Except I’m not in a nice tropical environment.
![]() 02/19/2018 at 15:34 |

Nice? Everything on the outside here is either covered by mosquitoes, smelly or melting
![]() 02/19/2018 at 15:35 |

Every single one of those here is absolutely beat to shit, driven by people who are either too old to see or most likely don’t care.

Trade it for sloppy Chicago winter roads littered with potholes and actual litter? Don’t forget the red light/speed cameras and people who don’t know how to drive.
![]() 02/19/2018 at 15:47 |

We also get all of those but the snow.

Most of the first generation examples that I saw last time I was in Europe were beat to shit too. Although they are cool for a crapbox, nobody bought them with the intention of keeping them pristine.

But are the streets filled with potholes, maniac bike couriers and cars without headlights, tail lights on bald flat tires?

Depending on the neighborhood, a surprising amount of all three.
And this is “first world” America.

Um... yes. You aren’t going to be traveling fast, so the risks are minor. Fold your suit jacket and put it in a top box (storage box over the back seat). It will come out fine. Make sure you have a fan at work to help you cool down quickly.
I rode my bicycle to work in 90+ temps for many years. On Mondays I would pull a small trailer so I could take my dress clothes to the office. When I got to the office, I’d sit in front of a fan to cool down and dry off. Then I’d change clothes and start my day. I didn’t stink (I found my future wife during this period, so I couldn’t have had stunk too bad). It’s amazing what drying off quickly will do to prevent unpleasant odors.
I’d bet you wouldn’t get all that sweaty in the first place. You’ll be on a motorcycle or scooter, creating your own breeze to help keep you cool. You can work your way through traffic, so you won’t be out there for an hour. Really, it’s a great solution.
E xcept for days when it rains.

I never planned on it, but I now know that I’m never moving to Brazil.
At least not Sao Paulo. Can’t imagine RDJ is any better.

After that last truck crash on the viaduct, I noted the moment my avg speed hit 1 mph. It was easy to calculate because it took me an hour to go 1 mile.

No possibility of going outside of rush hour, I guess? That’s one of the reasons I like flexitime!
Or is it always like that?

RDJ is this but with added chance of being brutally murdered and a nice beach.

VW? Looks similar to my 17 GTI dash.....

Yep, 2013 Asspat Wagon

Nice! I almost bought a Passat sedan.
But I drove the GTI and fell in love with the manual transmission.
I really wish they had the Passat wagon here in the states.

I’m in the Seattle area. It rains what seems like 300 days a year, and anything over 80 is hot to non-transplants. Lane splitting isn’t legal here, and traffic is more often jammed than not. I think a motorcycle as a commuter rig here is more of something one enjoys for the machine, rather than receives real benefit.
I like sauntering into work at my own pace, not changing clothes, not needing a shower or a fan :) not to mention not playing Russian roulette with the local “drivers” if I am using pedal power.

Gotta love Seattle traffic management.
I commute on Bellevue surface streets. I average around 15 mph, never more than 20, sometimes closer to 10.

But you aren’t My citroen won’t start and my reply was meant for him (yes, it was posted to your snarky reply). I didn’t say that a motorcycle was the solution to everyone’s commute! Seattle isn’t São Paulo, you know.

Yeah, replying to me threw me off :)

The south and southeast (city of Rio de Janeiro aside) of Brazil is pretty nice, but anything north of Brasilia is, well, far from ideal. The big three in the south, Curitiba, Porto Alegre and especially pretty Florianópolis are popular with expats
